At Main Street Books, we strive to host successful and well attended author events, whether the event was scheduled by the Lead Publicist at a New York publishing house or a self-published author from down the street.
In-store events are usually held on Saturday afternoons. We schedule two-hour time slots for our authors, either 1-3pm or 2-4pm, depending on the genre of the book and the author’s personal preference. Children’s book authors are sometimes scheduled from 11am-1pm, owing to the standard nap time being from about 1-3pm.
For large-scale events, we often partner with the St. Charles City-County Library District. The Library District’s twelve branches offer a great variety of larger venues at which we can host launch parties and book tours.
We will promote your event via our social media accounts with Facebook and Twitter, on our website at www.mainstreetbooks.net, and via our print and email newsletters. We currently have over 1,500 Likes on Facebook, over 4,000 followers on Twitter, and over 300 people subscribed to our email newsletter, and are able to reach a wide audience with our promotional materials. We print a physical newsletter every month as well that is available at the store and at all of our offsite events. If your event is hosted at the library, flyers and newsletters will be available at all twelve of its branches. The library has an extensive social media and email campaign as well, and your event will be advertised via their Facebook and Twitter accounts, their email newsletter and their website.
